Jesse Stewart is an award-winning composer, improviser, percussionist, instrument builder, researcher, writer, visual artist, and educator dedicated to re-imagining the spaces between artistic and scholarly disciplines. He has performed and/or recorded with musicians including Roswell Rudd, Evan Parker, Hamid Drake, William Parker, Pauline Oliveros, Joe McPhee, Jandek, Michael Snow, David Mott, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, and many others. He is a member of Stretch Orchestra (with Kevin Breit and Matt Brubeck), a group that won the 2012 “Instrumental Album of the Year” JUNO award for its self-titled debut recording. His music has been performed at festivals throughout Canada, in Europe and in the United States. He is a professor of music in Carleton University’s School for Studies in Art and Culture and an adjunct professor in the Visual Arts program at the University of Ottawa. www.jessestewart.ca
