Jen McLachlen

Jen McLachlen is a Canadian composer and flutist.  She completed her DMA in flute performance at Texas Tech University in 2013 under Dr. Lisa Garner; and in 2014, received a PhD in Fine Arts with a concentration in music composition. Her composition teachers include Steven Gellman, Russell Riepe, Peter Fischer and Mei-Fang Lin. As a composer and performer, she has participated in festivals and conferences across Canada and the United States. Her works for flute choir have been regularly performed at the National Flute Association's annual conventions. In early 2014, she participated in the International Festival of Contemporary Music of Chile, Edition XIV as both performer and composer. Her DMA dissertation, Piano Reduction and Stylistic Analysis of Kalevi Aho's Concerto for Flute and Orchestra has prompted the publication of her piano reduction of Mr. Aho's Concerto with Fennica Gerhman in the 2014 calendar year. She currently teaches ear training at Carleton University.
