Call for Scores Fall 2020: Collaborative Pandemic Pieces (Deadline: Nov 22 2020)

In response to the ongoing pandemic, ONMC has come up with a variety of alternatives to the traditional live in-person concert series. In addition to a live-streamed concerts and a podcast series, this year there is a somewhat different call-for-scores.

For this year’s call-for-scores, ONMC is seeking four composers who would each be interested in writing a one-minute piece inspired by the pandemic. These pieces must be for solo instrument (to accommodate future and commemorate past lock-downs), but you may choose whichever instrument you want. We will then ask you to find someone to perform your piece (this might affect your instrument choice) for our online pandemic composition series in the spring of 2021 (the performance may be live-streamed or pre-recorded).

Please send a brief proposal to ottawanewmusiccreators@gmail.com indicating the following:

  • Your instrument and performer of choice

  • One or two sentences about your intended one-minute piece (for example, what aspect of the pandemic you might use as inspiration, and/or any musical ideas you might have)

Deadline: Email receipt by Sunday, November 22, 2020, 11:59pm
