Daniel Ramjattan started performing on the guitar at ten years old in Stratford, Ontario. Since then, he has become increasingly distinguished in Canada. He received first prize in the Open Level of the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial Guitar competition in 2014, and placed third in the National Music Competition in 2014. He also placed as a finalist in the Hamilton International Guitar Competition in the same year. Other awards in the past include the Domaine Forget Guitar Award in 2013, second prize in the national level of the Canadian Music Competition in 2012, and a first place prize in the Concours de Guitare Outaouais-Gatineau.
Performances have taken him across Ontario, Quebec, BC, Florida, and Georgia, and he has performed on venues such as the NAC Fourth Stage, Walter Hall, University of Toronto, Ottawa Chamberfest, and the INNERChamber Music Festival.
Daniel has received lessons and masterclasses from some of the world's greatest guitarists, including Jorge Caballero, Pavel Steidl, Lorenzo Micheli, Fabio Zanon, Denis Azabagic, Bruce Holzman, and Jerome Ducharme, as well as violinist Yehonatan Berick.
Daniel has a particular love for new music and the music of new composers, and has premiered works by Daniel Mehdizadeh, Raphael Weinroth-Browne, and several others, which can be found on his Youtube channel.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Ottawa, where he is also pursuing a Masters Degree with Patrick Roux. He also studied with world-renowned pedagogue Bruce Holzman in Tallahassee, Florida for a semester in Fall 2014. In his rare moments of spare time, he enjoys meditation, psychology, and Star Trek.
